The Girl With No Voice
My Story "The Girl With No Voice" was performed at the Seymour Centre, Sydney, for the Arts North Festival in August 2016. 30 pupils took part in the performance.

Sadly, Maurice Saxby passed away 30th November, 2014. Libby Gleeson gave the annual Maurice Saxby lecture at Sydney University.

We had an inspiring visit to our school during Book Week 2014 by famous Australian author, Nadia Wheatley. She has written books such as My Place and Australians All.

Authors' Visit 2012
On 12th September 2012, we had a very special Authors' Visit and High Tea at Galston Public School. My colleagues from the Children's Book Council of Australia (Northern Branch) gave talks to the students and parents about literature and their books. We were very fortunate to have Yvonne Low, Wendy Blaxland, Antonette Diorio, Wendy Fitzgerald and Jill Bruce to visit.
The high tea for the authors and parents was provided by the staff at Galston Public School. It was an unforgettable and inspiring day.
Aleesah Darlison gave an interesting and dynamic talk to the Year 3 and Year 4 classes.
During Book Week 2012, famous Australian author Frances Watts came to speak to the students and show her books. Some of our favourites were "Kisses for Daddy", the "Sword Girl" series and the "Gerander Trilogy". Her books have been "flying off" the shelves ever since her visit!
Polar Bear Exhibit, San Diego Zoo
During my US visit in June 2012 (California, Arizona, Utah and Nevada), I visited the San Diego Zoo. This giant book was part of the polar bear exhibit.
On 1st May 2012, The Maurice Saxby Lecture took place at the Dixson Room in the State Library of NSW. It was held to recognise Maurice's national and international contribution to childrens' literature and to the Children's Book Council of Australia over the last sixty years. The lecture was presented by Professor Robyn Ewing BEd(Hons) PhD.
Jeni Mawter was our 2011 Book Week visitor. We had three 1 hour enjoyable and action packed sessions.
